Abstract: Key management is deemed as the fundamental essential part of any secure communication. A secure sensor network communication protocol relies on the substantial secure, robust and efficient key management system. Implementing a private and public key pair for sensor network is impractical due to high computation and energy consumption. In this research, we put forward two group key management schemes for hierarchical self-organizing wireless sensor network architecture. Both of the schemes are designed in such a way that more computational and communication burden is placed on the forwarding node and the similar workload is kept as low as possible at the sensor nodes. Estimation of highly selective channels for downlink LTE MIMO-OFDM system by a robust neural network

Abstract: In this contribution, we propose a robust highly selective channel estimator for downlink Long Term Evolution (LTE) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal fr equency division multiplexing (OFDM) system using neural network. The new method uses the information provided by the reference signals to estimate the total frequency response of the channel in two phases. In the first phase, the proposed method learns to adapt to the channel variations, and in the second phase it predicts the channel parameters. The performance of the estimation method in terms of complexity and quality is confirmed by theoretical analysis and simulations in an LTE/OFDMA transmission system. The performances of the proposed channel estimator are compared with those of least square (LS), decision feedback and modified Wiener methods. The simulation results show that the proposed estimator performs better than the above estimators and it is more robust at high speed mobility. read more... read less...

Abstract: The number of mobile phone users has grown surpassing the PC users due to its mobility and handiness, increasing of its processing power and memory, continuous growth of its applications and operating system’s capabilities. Calendar is one of the common applications that are made available to these devices. Users are more dependent in using calendar to plan their daily activities. In a long term, the aggregation of these accounts can be the source of information in analyzing an individual’s favorites, routines events, social contacts or personal beliefs. We developed a system to deliver the Mobile News Content (MNC) to individuals based on the information extracted from the calendar. The key capability of MNC is the ability to deliver news relevant to the current context of the individual with respect to the event, social and time. We propose an integrated suite that consists of event-capturing engine, news content controller and context calendar to enhance the news delivery capabilities. The event-capturing engine senses the actual activity that takes place and synchronizes with the context calendar automatically. The news content controller manages the delivery of news based on the event being sensed and the planned activity extracted from the context calendar. Abstract: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have attracted significant research interest in recent years because of their suitability to a vast range of real-world applications. The envisioned Internet Protocol (IP) support for WSNs requires interoperability with existing management solutions, like Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), in order to provide remote management functionality and assure the correct operation of the WSN. It is essential to provide a network management system that is interoperable with standard network management solutions, customizable, and extensible to various WSN applications. In this paper we present EmNetS Network Management Protocol (EMP), a lightweight and SNMP-compliant IP-based WSN (IP-WSN) management solution. We present detailed operational architecture and a Management Information Base (MIB) which is extensible to IP-WSN applications. Abstract: Wireless ad-hoc networks are highly dynamic networks for which routing is a challenging task. Existing routing protocols whether reactive, proactive or hybrid showed limitations in various situations. To optimize the behavior of the routing nodes, the academic community is recommending the reliance on an autonomic approach that would guarantee self–adaptation, self–configuration, self–management, self-optimization and self–protection mechanisms of all the network nodes. In this paper we propose an autonomic architecture geared towards improving the routing performance within wireless ad-hoc networks. This architecture provides a formal framework where each node has a routing agent whose role is to monitor routing activities within the network, which are used to tune the routing decisions of the node, in harmony with other nodes. The architecture is easy to tailor to any routing protocol. Simulation results with autonomic implementations of AODV and OLSR routing protocols show remarkable performance improvement with respect to efficiency (Packet Delivery Ratio, overhead, quality of paths and reliability). read more... read less...
